The Erraid Island seal colony

20 x 30cm

Oil on linen board

£265

I saw these seals on a misty day at the Isle of Erraid off the south west coast of Mull. I'd seen the same colony a few years earlier but lost the photos so had always been desperate to return!

The bay next to the island is a perfect haven for them as it's sheltered from the Atlantic waves and there is a series of small islets that they

24 x 30cm

Oil on linen board

£275

I was walking along the cliffs towards the lighthouse at St Abbs, Northumberland, when I saw this stoat appear amongst the grass. I remember marvelling at how small it was, which is extraordinary considering it can take down much larger prey like rabbits.

I loved the interplay between the warm browns and the cool blues which create a more dynamic picture and add to the atmosphere. I added the swallows to complement t

Little Drummer

Pileated Woodpeckers, native to North America, are very striking birds thanks to their red crests. This woodpecker was seen by a friend travelling in America and I was drawn to the contrast between the red of its crest and the green forest behind. I also thought the fungi on the tree added a bit of interest but I made sure not to detract focus from
